We have had the great pleasure of supporting Paul Bass and his team with the development of the CORE platform from its initial concept in 2018.
In that time Paul has been on an incredible journey, from his roots as a Quantity Surveyor to becoming the Founder/Owner of a tech business - and navigating around the challenges of working in a sector that has traditionally been slow to digitise.
While we have worked with many hundreds of digital businesses over almost 20 years, CORE is quite simply one of the best tech solutions that we have ever seen.
We have complete faith in Paul and his product and are really excited about what the future holds for CORE and the impact that it will have on the Construction sector.

WOODSmith Construction Ltd
WOODSmith Construction Ltd provides the end-to-end delivery of construction projects, specialising in industrial, commercial, residential, and public sector developments. WOODSmith are delivering projects for large blue chip clients such as AngloAmerican and British Steel and have recently secured a high-profile contract on Middlesbrough Railway station. Gary Wood (Managing Director of WOODSmith construction) recognised he required a system to proactively manage his workbank and agreed to trial CORE. The trial with WOODSmith has been in place for 6 months and they are using CORE as their single project and commercial management system. The system has been tested and refined following iterative feedback.
WOODSmith have also utilised our 3D scanning services which has brought huge efficiencies to their design and development processes. WOODSmith manage all their Early Warnings, Risks and Changes through the system and also capture all Site Diary and resource information within CORE and the team use our Dash reports to facilitate progress meetings and make informed decisions. WOODSmith have stated they are delivering projects approximately 8% quicker and at 4% less cost since adopting CORE. The potential additional costs and delays avoided due to improved risk and change management as a result of adopting CORE are not quantifiable.
“We were introduced to Core Systems following a recommendation from Teesside University after we enquired about any opportunities relating to digital software in the construction industry. We have been trialling the Core system for circa 5 months and have over 40 projects currently on the system, with 12 completed to date. Core has streamlined our processes from conception through to reality. As a result of adopting Core we are better informed and have visibility of real time data for our projects. I am able to check progress remotely, view key documentation, make quick decisions and communicate with my team all in one place. The site team have adopted the system well and in addition to recording progress they capture site documentation such as delivery tickets, plant records, safety and inspection documents, test sheets etc. We have reduced costs and time associated with paper-led processes and have numerous examples where we have generated savings and avoided costly situations.
In summary, the system brings commercial, sustainability, safety and wellbeing benefits to our company. We recently had an ISO audit, and the assessor was particularly complimentary about the CORE system. WOODSmith have experienced rapid growth within the past year, and we are currently forecasting to treble our turnover when compared to last year. We have also been shortlisted for a prestigious award. The CORE system has supported my business growth and has enabled me to remain in control despite a significant increase in projects and workload – I have no hesitation in suggesting this system could bring efficiencies to the HS2 programme.”
